Steve Hutton has been with True Potential, since June 2018, following three years of working closely with the Group through his role at UBS Asset Management. He believes his 36 years in the industry are an ideal foundation for his role as Managing Partner at True Potential Wealth Management.

Here, Steve explains how he got started, what he enjoys most about his job, and his hopes for the future.

How did you get started in the industry?

I started in the industry in 1983, working for M&G Group and then as an IFA for 5 years, specialising in developing professional connections and gaining a Financial Planning Certificate. Since then I’ve been a Director and Head of Wholesale Business for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Fidelity International and UBS Asset Management.

Tell us about your area of expertise?

Over the last 36 years, I’ve had significant experience of Asset Management, Fund Platforms, and liaising with Fund Managers and advisers. Taking all of this experience and bringing it to True Potential Wealth Management means we can continue strengthening relationships with advisers and their clients alongside our global investment partners to ensure we’re providing the right products for clients.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy working closely with our staff every day. I am supported by a great team of sales, administration, product and investment specialists helping to provide excellent technology, investment products and services to clients.

What makes the company special?

Our company is unique in its ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment. True Potential has a strong vision to provide innovative financial solutions to clients and it’s exciting to be part of developing those strategies.

Who are you when you’re not at work?

When I’m not at work, I’m usually spending time with my wife Bernadette and three sons; Charlie, Will and Louis. I’ve always enjoyed keeping active – once a promising footballer, captaining for both Bradford and Yorkshire Senior Schools. These days, I’m a keen mountain biker, park runner and I enjoy a good skiing trip! Away from the business, you might also find yourself as my opponent at Bridge.

What are you most excited about in regard to the future of the company?

The landscape of financial services has changed dramatically in my time in the industry, and it’s fantastic to be part of a company so well positioned for continued growth. I look forward to developing the business further and building even better innovative solutions to help our clients reach their financial goals.
